Default N/Me, the multi-degen defiler!

After reading up on the OoB debate, I figured to test this today and got some pretty good results in TA. Haven't been in GvG in a long time and HoH is kinda unstable battleground for my setup...

Here we have a degen based build designed to force the enemy team into a defensive role vs. a multiple striking form of degen.

12+1+3 Blood Magic
8+1 Soul Reaping
10 Illusion

Offering of Blood {E}
Life Siphon
Mark of Subversion
Dark Pact / Plague Touch
Conjure Phantasm
Phantom Pain
Illusion of Weakness
Res Sig

A mix of degen coupled with the 'ultimate' e. manager as of update. Idea is to blast multiple foes using Life Siphon, use OoB, then cover it with Conjure Phantasm and Phantom Pain.

Defensive capabilities include Illusion of Weakness and Res Sig. Using Plague Touch is if you're in CA or maybe TA, but if your monks are on their toes, the spammable Dark Pact or maybe even Shadow Strike might make great compliments to your blood magic.

Steal hp, feed hp to energy, feed extra energy to illusion degen, repeat... Does this sound like a feasible mechanism for spreading degen among 4+ enemies?

If not, perhaps I need faster recycling hexes or maybe even a more condition based build? Rotting Flesh is too unstable and uses death magic but perhaps a combo of Signet of Agony + Plague Sending/Touch?

Obviously, anti-casters will stop this build cold but it should be able to stand up to non-casters by keeping their hp flowing to you and you can just steal what's not regenning using Mark of Subversion from another caster. OR replace it with Vamp Touch or Vamp gaze perhaps?

Hmm mark of subversion recharges pretty slow, doesn't it? Maybe you could poke something else in there.

I think people can hit through teh mighty life siphon. Where is this 'debate' on oob.... and i dont see what changed... unless i missed something.

I have a feeling spreading conditions like mad works better.... sure its easy to remove but since youll be a ranger, just get debilitating shot and watch the energy bars drop.

Surely ether prodigy is the best... oob used to give 1.89 pips extra.... prodigy is 6.... thats some buff oob just got :S

Aiming in the region of -6+ on 4+ characters seems about reasonable to make it worth it over simply wanding people.

parasitic bond to cover? most of the stuff there is too expensive to spam.

tried this build in CA and it did not really own. Troll ungents and monk healing just make this build ineffetive

When you called it a defiler, I expected to see Defile Flesh...

Some friends and I had a good deal of success in the team arena with a similar n/me on our team, but she used Defile Flesh as well as the degens. And it probably wouldn't have worked nearly as well without the IW/blackout mesmer harassing the monk at the same time - most monks would try to kite the mesmer only to degen to death.

He specifically mentioned this is a TA build not a CA build. In other words this is a build to use in a planned team to complement it.

As far as I can see, it's 11 degen on every opposing player.. of course the cap is 10, but spread out, that's 160 dps. It might not seem that way to anyone but the healer monk.

Actually, it takes degen well beyond the max, which is kinda pointless.

how so? so u think a health degen of 10 or so is enough? yea and tey heal up and ull be screwed. if u r to degen, degen with all ur might, not like 2 spells or else its pointless. plus, most of these degens have good bonuses to them for use. faintheartedness for the warriors, phantom pain to inflict a deep wound, life transfer+siphon for healing, parasitic bond for healing, soul barbs+continous parasitic bond will even do good dmg

its far from pointless, every spell is in there for a reason, and its best to use it. so u think ranger/mesmers with mutliple distraction shots r pointless? its basically the same concept here

10 isn't just "enough", it's the most degen they can possibly have at one time. The only benefit to putting more than 10 arrows of degen is to counter regen arrows, and there are far better ways to do that. Like enchantment removal.

and when one degen ends, thats why the other kicks in. you dont try to put all degen at ONCE, but constantly, why can you not think beyond 1 dimension? plz think about it before you say whatever you say, as i said the build has its skills set that way for a reason.

p.s. i tried your build, Yukito Kunisaki. its not bad, but im sorry to say that i got about 5 times more wins and faction with my build. degen builds must degen constantly, and to one target at a time. you dont need to sacrifice health for energy, your energy is fine if its got a regen of 4, and soul reaping kicks in when you degen.

some people think i degen with all spells at once, but its not that way. u degen 1 at a time, and eventually some will end, and you cast more and more.... -_-

ANOTHER PS: did you actually try my build or just assume it's crap? cuz i tried Yukito Kunisaki's build and it was ok, I thought mine was better based on experience. i suggest u actually TRY the builds before you talk smack cuz thats how you JUDGE builds. -_-

I must be missing something. When I play a build with degen, and one of my degens runs out... I just cast it again. Why do you need a different skill to keep degenning?

for quick, constant degen. yea ok life transfer+conjure = 12. the others wont always equal 10, so cast all of em for maximum effect all the time. wow -_-
